An 18th century dresser base, also referred to as a low dresser or server, is a long wooden cabinet featuring drawers and a flat top surface, historically designed for serving food and storing tableware in regional British homes.

Georgian regional dressers were crafted from native hardwoods such as elm, oak, and fruitwood, employing hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged mortise and tenon frames, and hand-planed back panels.

Authentic 18th century pieces display hand-sawn timber marks, irregular dovetail joints, cast brass hardware with hand-cut threads, and wood shrinkage consistent with natural aging.

A low dresser base functions as a hallway console table, living room sideboard, or media unit, providing a functional surface while adding historic timber texture to contemporary settings.

Maintain a consistent indoor humidity level, position the timber away from direct heat sources, and apply a beeswax polish periodically with a soft cotton cloth to protect the surface.
