Gents or Ladies 1950s Lanco Wrist Watch, Original Box

1940 - 1960
Description

Gents or ladies 1950s Lanco wrist watch, original box.

The watch has a 15 jewel hand-winding movement, calibre 1022, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the name Lanco, a brand name first registered by the Langendorf Watch Company in 1913.

The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs so it could be worn by a man or a lady. The case is gold plated with a stainless steel case back and it is all in beautiful condition, as is the lens (some natural light reflection showing in the photos) . The back of the watch states that the watch is water resistant but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and minute markers.

The watch has its original strap although we could replace this with a brown or black strap if preferred.

The watch comes in its original presentation box, original Lanco label also included.

Declaration

The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this 1950s Lanco Wrist Watch to the 1950s.

Dealers Notes

ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (because of GPSR legislation, we no longer post items less than 100 years old to Europe, including Northern Ireland).

Please contact us regarding international shipping.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Lanco was a brand manufactured by the Langendorf Watch Company in Switzerland, active throughout the twentieth century. During the 1950s, the company produced precision mechanical timepieces featuring distinct dial layouts and robust in-house movements.

Mid-century Swiss watches generally feature gold-plated or stainless steel cases, acrylic crystals, metallic alloy movement components, and stitched leather or fabric straps.

Authentic examples display correct brand typography on the dial, Swiss Made or Swiss markings near the six oclock position, stamped movement plates, and period-correct case back engravings.

A classic analogue wristwatch functions as a understated accessory for formal attire or tailored smart-casual wear, adding a historic element to contemporary styling.

Mechanical watches require regular manual winding without over-tightening the mainspring. Keep the piece away from water, extreme temperature fluctuations, and high magnetic fields to ensure longevity.
