A magnificent antique Victorian satinwood inlaid and polychrome painted bow front side cabinet dating from circa 1880. The slightly over-sailing top veneered in satinwoods of excellent tone and grain, with cross-banded edges and decorated with central Puto medallion, ribbon tied floral swags and cabbage rose and wildflowers to the borders over two fielded panelled doors. The doors are cock beaded and inlaid with barber pole stringing and are beautifully decorated with two finely painted medallions depicting neo-classical romantic scenes. It stands on 4 tapered legs decorated with harebells and terminating in spade feet, the doors with working locks and key open to reveal lots of storage to the interior. This elegant cabinet is slim in shape; so would work well in a hall or against a wall as a statement piece.
