Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Relief-moulded stoneware jugs gained immense popularity in 19th-century Britain following manufacturing advances that allowed intricate designs to be cast directly into plaster moulds. British potteries produced these vessels featuring historicist, Gothic Revival, and botanical themes to offer detailed, artful tableware to the growing middle class.

These vessels were typically produced using fine stoneware or earthenware clay poured into multi-part plaster moulds. The exterior surfaces were often treated with a smear glaze or translucent enamel to emphasize the crisp details of the raised relief artwork without clogging the fine lines.

Authentic pieces usually feature impressed pottery maker marks, registration diamonds, or pattern numbers on the underside of the base. Additionally, genuine period examples display sharp mould definition, distinct weight characteristics, and subtle signs of age such as micro-crazing or light footwear.

A relief-moulded jug works as a decorative focal point placed on a wooden sideboard, mantelpiece, or bookshelf. It can be displayed as standalone art or styled with dried botanicals to complement classic, eclectic, or dark academia interior schemes.

Clean ceramic jugs using warm water and a mild dishwashing liquid with a soft sponge, taking care not to scrub relief details aggressively. Avoid placing antique ceramics in dishwashers or exposing them to rapid temperature changes that could induce cracking.
