Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III chest on chest, often called a tallboy, is a two-part storage unit comprising an upper section of smaller drawers stacked upon a lower section of larger drawers, characteristic of furniture produced during the reign of King George III from 1760 to 1820.

These pieces are traditionally constructed from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction, oak or pine secondary woods for drawer linings, and cast brass handle hardware.

Authenticity is identified through hand-planed surfaces, irregular dovetailing, original or period-correct brasses, signs of age-related timber shrinkage, and hand-carved decorative elements rather than machine-tooled symmetry.

In a modern interior, this piece serves as a statement anchor in a bedroom or hallway, allowing the rich wood grain to contrast against neutral wall colours while functioning as practical vertical storage.

Preserve antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, applying microcrystalline wax periodically instead of modern silicone polishes, and maintaining stable room humidity.
