Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, has been a central figure in Chinese Buddhist art for centuries. During the Qing dynasty, carved wooden statues were frequently commissioned for both temple altars and private domestic shrines, reflecting traditional iconographic conventions.

These figures were carved from solid timber or assembled using joinery techniques, then covered with a thin layer of gesso. Pigments derived from natural minerals and organic dyes were applied alongside gilding to create detailed textile patterns and facial features.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit natural age-related cracking in the wood timber, softening of carved details from handling, and paint loss or flaking on exposed edges. Inspection of the base and reverse often reveals historical tool marks and genuine patination.

A large standing figure serves as a focal point when placed atop a minimalist console table or sideboard. Positioning the sculpture against a neutral backdrop highlights its carved silhouette and surviving polychrome details.

Keep the item in a climate-controlled environment away from direct sunlight and sudden humidity shifts to prevent timber shrinkage or paint loss. Clean gently using a dry, soft-bristled brush, avoiding water, solvents, or commercial polishes.
