Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Campaign wardrobes originated during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, designed specifically for British military officers to transport during overseas deployments. These pieces were constructed to break down into manageable sections for travel while maintaining the elegant proportions and refined aesthetic of Regency home furnishings.

Traditional campaign wardrobes were constructed using durable hardwoods such as mahogany or teak, often paired with secondary woods like pine or oak for interior drawer linings. Key construction features include hand-cut dovetail joints, brass flush-fitting hardware, and a modular framework designed to separate into upper and lower sections.

Authentic period campaign pieces feature distinct two-part modular splitting points, hand-planed backboards, period-correct iron or brass locks, and original brass fittings. Signs of hand-crafted assembly, including slight irregularities in dovetail joints and original patina on brasswork, further verify authenticity.

A Regency campaign wardrobe functions as a focal storage piece in modern bedrooms, dressing rooms, or large entrance halls. Pairing dark mahogany woodwork with neutral linen wallcoverings, soft lighting, and minimalist contemporary decor balances the heavy visual weight of the historic cabinet.

Preservation requires regular dusting with a soft dry cloth and periodic application of high-grade beeswax polish along the grain. Keep the item away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent wood shrinkage, veneer lifting, or finish discolouration.
