This pair of garden statues takes the form of guardian lions in the English Country House style, dating to 1930. The statues are made of cast stone and reconstituted stone in a grey colour with an overall weathered surface, visible lichen patination, and dark mossy spotting. Each lion is fully sculpted in the round with a seated pose, rounded chunky proportions, defined mane detail, and a rectangular base. They measure 51 cm high, 33 cm wide, and 26 cm deep. These ornamental lions suit placement beside the front door or within a traditional garden setting to provide a classical focal point. The solid stone construction makes them suitable for permanent outdoor display throughout the seasons, while the weathered finish provides an established garden aesthetic. The figures can be viewed from any direction due to their complete round sculpting.

Lions have served as symbols of strength, protection, and guardianship at gates, doorways, and garden pathways since classical antiquity.

Garden lions are commonly crafted from carved natural stone such as limestone or sandstone, as well as cast stone or reconstituted stone poured into detailed moulds.

Authentic outdoor stone pieces exhibit natural surface patination, subtle erosion on prominent features, and organic lichen or moss growth integrated into the porous material.

Position the figures symmetrically on either side of a front entrance, flanking garden steps, or at the start of a gravel pathway to create visual structure.

Clean gently using clean water and a soft-bristled brush, avoiding harsh chemical detergents or pressure washers that can damage cast details or remove natural surface patina.
