Description

Occasionally, I will discover an antique carpet with exquisite dyes and design that engenders happiness. This Heriz carpet is a fine example. From the terracotta field through all the secondary colours including the light blues, yellows, pinks and greens, the dyes are perfectly harmonious and charming. The classic design has also been rendered perfectly with great balance. Note the fine sapphire blue stylised floral border, unusually wide for a carpet of this size, which frames the composition. Furthermore, it has the bonus of being in a small carpet size which one rarely sees. One can imagine it enhancing any number of settings, both traditional and modern. Cherished through the generations, it has survived very well, with good robust pile typical of Heriz weavings. Professionally cleaned.
