Newlyn Copper Hot Water Jug with Cormorant and John Dory Decoration, c.1905
For sale is an exceptionally attractive Newlyn copper hot water jug, dating to around 1905. Of tapered square form, the jug is beautifully decorated on one side with a cormorant standing on a rock, a fish clasped in its bill, and on the front with a stylised John Dory fish.
The jug remains in excellent condition, retaining its original split cane wickerwork around the strap handle, which is also in superb order. The base is clearly stamped Newlyn.
Dimensions: approximately 20.5 cm in height and 14 cm across from the tip of the spout to the edge of the handle.
An outstanding example of Newlyn copper from the Arts and Crafts period — both decorative and highly collectible.
