Size: 4ft 3in x 2ft 4in (130 x 70cm).

Antique Tekke Turkmen chuval of scarce format with 'Aina' guls.

Circa 1880.

An excellent Tekke Turkmen chuval face of very fine weave and scarce design. The main field is filled with 56 aina guls of the chuval gul format; the elem has 44 guls of the diamond design. The main border is of the 'Flag' design or 'Tekbent' design as it is known to the Turkmen, this border is found on early Tekke weavings. 100 guls in total on a chuval face, I have never seen more.

Excellent condition with even wear and medium pile.
