James Cohen Antique Carpets has dated this Antique Khorassan Persian Carpet to the 1890s.
Made in central Persia in the late 19th century it comes with the mystery of the Orient and hundreds of years of rug weaving tradition. Someone has in the past carefully sewn it onto a cotton lining to help preserve it and although looking a little raggedy, I would recommend leaving the lining on as it holds the rug together. Worn, repaired and patched with some splits along the top end...
