Antique Caucasian Talish Long Rug With Blue Ground, Outstanding Condition And Colour, Circa 1880.

Antique Caucasian Talish long rug with a narrow indigo blue field.
 
Circa 1880.
 
This is an outstanding example of a Talish long rug, it has a classic Talish design and ivory ground rosette border. The use of yellow in the small reciprocal design on the edge of the blue field is a nice feature. and frames the narrow blue field very well. Note the small filler elements placed in the blue field.
 
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and good pile, the wool is soft and the weave is fine. There is some slight corrosion to the blacks.
 
Hand washed and ready for use or display.
 
A truly outstanding example of type.
