This 19th Century rug layers colour and imagery to another level. The ivory ground border allows the eight-pointed stars to shine, whilst the pastel hues on the hooked octagons work well to frame the central mihrab. The prayer niche acts as the centrepiece of the rug, with an enchanting green/blue that shows a beautiful level of abrash as you move up the panels, an unusual and desirable feature.
