Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Louis Wain was an English artist active during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, renowned for his humorous depictions of anthropomorphic cats engaged in human activities. His work gained widespread popularity through magazine publications, Christmas annuals, and promotional prints for companies such as Pears.

Late nineteenth and early twentieth-century mass-produced prints of this nature were predominantly produced using chromolithography. This process involved transferring multi-coloured inks onto paper using a series of etched limestone plates or zinc plates.

Authentic period prints display characteristic paper aging, subtle dot or grain matrix structures under magnification consistent with chromolithography, and specific publication margins or text insets. Original Pears Annual inserts often retain specific paper weight and print registration details unique to their publication year.

Period prints can be mounted in contemporary or traditional gilt frames and incorporated into gallery wall arrangements alongside architectural drawings or botanical studies. They function effectively as focal accents in hallways, libraries, or traditional study spaces.

Paper prints should be framed using acid-free mounting board and museum-grade UV-protective glass to prevent fading and yellowing. Display the print away from direct sunlight, damp conditions, and high-humidity areas to prevent foxing and warping.
