An aneroid barometer is a device for measuring atmospheric pressure without using liquid, functioning by means of an expandable metal capsule.

Victorian barometers typically featured timber frames such as walnut, mahogany, or oak, enclosing a brass bezel and a paper or enamel dial.

Authentic pieces often exhibit hand-carved wooden details, maker signatures on the dial face, traditional bevelled glass, and age-related patination on the internal brass components.

An antique barometer can be mounted on a feature wall in a study or hallway to serve as a focal point, pairing well with both traditional and transitional decor schemes.

Preserve the item by keeping it away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, gently dusting the wooden frame and glass with a soft, dry cloth.
