Rams Head Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
He was known for his Baroque style and Van -Dyck influences in painting the English aristocracy. Lely became a naturalised British subject and was knighted by Charles II in 1679.

The work dates from the early Victorian era circa 1840 and is in what appears to be its original gilt frame which is also in very nice original condition.
The frame measures 97 cms by 84 cms overall.
