The Dying Gaul is a representation of a Celtic warrior from the Hellenistic period, originally copied in marble from a lost Greek bronze commission set up in Pergamon around 230-220 BC.

These sculptures are traditionally produced using the lost-wax casting method, utilizing copper-alloy bronze that develops a natural patination over time.

Authentication relies on examining the casting method, chisel marks, surface patination, wear patterns appropriate to age, and occasionally foundry marks or signatures.

Place the sculpture as a focal point on a dark wood mantelpiece, a library desk, or within a bookshelf to add textural contrast and historical depth to contemporary spaces.

Maintain bronze by dusting gently with a dry, soft brush and occasionally applying a microcrystalline wax to protect the patina from atmospheric moisture.
