Gents 1950s Cyma Triplex Wrist Watch

1940 - 1960
Sold 7 January 2026 · The Vintage Wrist Watch Company
This “Gents 1950s Cyma Triplex Wrist Watch” found a buyer.

It was listed by The Vintage Wrist Watch Company. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.

Description

Gents 1950s Cyma Triplex wrist watch.

The watch has a fully signed 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The main body of the case is chrome plated while the case back is stainless steel. There is some surface marking although not too detrimental, and all very acceptable for a 1950s piece.

The lens is in lovely condition (some white reflection showing in the photos).

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There is some light freckling across the dial but you have to look closely to see it.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

Dealers Notes

ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (because of GPSR legislation, we no longer post items less than 100 years old to Europe, including Northern Ireland).

Please contact us regarding international shipping.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Cyma Triplex system, introduced in the 1940s, incorporated a patented shock-absorbing mechanism for the balance staff, significantly increasing the durability of the movement against drops and impacts.

Watch cases from this era were typically fabricated from stainless steel, chrome plating, or solid gold, paired with acrylic crystals and genuine leather straps.

Authenticity is verified by examining the signed movement inside, matching serial numbers, correct dial typography, and hallmark stamps on the interior case back.

A mid-century timepiece adds understated elegance to modern tailoring, pairing exceptionally well with minimalist cuffs and textured wool or tweed garments.

To maintain longevity, avoid exposure to moisture and magnetic fields, wind the mainspring gently at the same time each day, and have the movement serviced by a professional horologist every three to five years.
