Maintain stable ambient temperatures and humidity levels to prevent wood splitting or veneer warping. Clean periodically with a soft, dry cloth and nourish the wood occasionally with traditional beeswax to preserve the finish.

Pairing traditional dark wood furniture with neutral walls and modern minimalist art creates a balanced interior scheme. It functions effectively as a focal point in a bedroom or hallway, styled simply with a low-profile lamp or a ceramic vase.

Authentication involves examining the timber grain, drawer construction details such as hand-cut dovetailing, and the presence of handmade brass or turned wooden knobs with expected signs of age-related oxidisation and wear. The backboards and drawer bottoms are typically hand-planed timbers consistent with pre-industrial manufacturing.

Authentic period pieces were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or timber framed with flame mahogany veneers, often incorporating oak secondary timbers for drawer linings. Construction typically features hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction and traditional mortise and tenon framing.

Bowfront chests of drawers emerged during the late 18th century, becoming highly fashionable in the Georgian and Regency periods. The curved front design was developed to soften the profile of traditional rectangular case furniture while offering additional interior volume.
