Harrington Antiques has dated this piece to the 1960s.
Robert Sielle (1895-1983) was a leading London frame-maker and exhibition agent from the 1930s-70s. The address on the label verso was his premises between 1948-1982.
We can, therefore, date this work between 1948-1971.

The work is extremely atmospheric, almost impressionistic. The unusual composition makes it feel like one is amongst the orchestra, and the bold use of contrast and impasto gives the work a real verve.

The work is housed in a deep frame with black painted interior and gilded border. The 'Robert Sielle' label to the back of the frame is similarly age toned to that on the back of the canvas indicating the work is housed in its original frame as the artist intended.
