Antique Afghan Baluch Pushti Face with 'Tile' Design, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 3ft 2in x 1ft 11in (96 x 59cm).

Antique Baluch pushti bag face with a repeat 'tile' design lattice, on a dark indigo blue ground.

Circa 1900.

Pushti were used as pillows or back rests, they were filled with wool or straw through a small opening to one side. This face from a pushti originates from the region of Western Afghanistan. The design is a simple repeat 'tile' design forming a lattice. The border is of a traditional Baluch designs. The weaving has a warm and 'earthy' colour palette.

The bag face is in good condition with very slight wear and good pile.
