Impressionist landscape painting emerged in the nineteenth century, focusing on natural light, visible brushstrokes, and everyday scenes rather than idealized historical subjects.

Traditional oil paintings typically utilise linen or cotton canvas stretched over a wooden frame, painted with oil pigments bound in drying oils such as linseed.

Authentic pieces often show natural craquelure in the paint surface, older canvas textures, and period-appropriate framing techniques or stretcher bars.

Pairing historical art with clean-lined, contemporary furniture creates a balanced interior scheme that highlights the character of the artwork without overwhelming the space.

Keep oil paintings away from direct sunlight and high humidity, and clean the surface gently with a soft, dry brush to prevent damage to the delicate pigment layers.
