c. 1870 Italian School Lakeside Mountainous Landscape Oil Painting 19th-Century

Brief Description:

This is a fabulous 19th-century Italian School Oil on Canvas Landscape Painting depicting an extensive lakeside view, with towering mountain peaks, a large lake, a river bridge and a small hamlet in the distance.

Dating to circa 1870-1880, and mounted within a good quality (later) gilt moulded frame.

The work does not appear to be signed, but it is clear to see from these images that the artist was a highly skilled and trained hand.

Both the painting and the frame are offered in an overall good original condition.

There are some ancient (dormant) woodworm holes in the back of the frame's stretcher, and the painting has craquelure across most parts of the canvas surface - see images.
