Good 20" Long Mathieson Steel Jointing Plane

Description

Good early 20" long dovetailed steel jointing plane by A. Mathieson & Son of Glasgow in good all original condition. The plane is not stamped on the gunmetal lever cap but is stamped at the front of the infill. Good dark rosewood infill with fully anclosed rear handle with full spur and no damage. Comes with the original Mathieson backing iron and thich parallel iron which produces a good mouth. The infill retain most of its original finish. Very slight discolouration to the metal and a couple of minor areas of slight pitting but generally this is a very nice plane just waiting to be put back to good use. 2 1/12" wide blade.
