Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Keep the steel dry and lightly coat it with microcrystalline wax or mineral oil to prevent rust and corrosion. Clean the wooden components gently with a soft cloth and preserve them with a natural beeswax polish, avoiding humid environments or direct heat sources.

A traditional spear functions well mounted horizontally or vertically on a neutral accent wall, using minimalist brass or dark steel brackets. It can also be displayed on a bespoke iron floor stand within a library, hallway, or study to serve as a structural focal point.

Authentic pieces exhibit evidence of hand-forging, such as slight structural asymmetries, hammer marks, and natural surface oxidisation. Look for traditional blade geometry, including pronounced central ridges or geometric engravings along the blade, alongside authentic wear around the socket joining.

These items typically feature hand-forged iron or steel blades attached to native hardwood or iron shafts. The metalwork often incorporates hand-chiseled fullers, surface incising, and socketed or tang mountings constructed using traditional charcoal forge techniques.

Tuareg spears originate from the nomadic Berber tribes of the Saharan region in North Africa. Handcrafted by traditional hereditary blacksmiths known as Inadan, these weapons held both functional value for hunting and defence, as well as high ceremonial status within nomadic society.
