FAQs

Bow front chests feature a convex curved front profile that gained popularity during the Georgian period and remained a staple through the Victorian and Edwardian eras, prized for softening the geometric lines of standard furniture.

These pieces are typically constructed from solid timber carcases with decorative veneer finishes such as walnut or mahogany, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction and traditional brass hardware.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting the secondary timbers inside the drawers, looking for hand-cut dovetails, uneven grain patterns consistent with hand-planing, and period-appropriate fixings and locks.

This piece works effectively as a focal point in a contemporary bedroom or hallway, contrasting clean modern white walls with rich wood tones and providing functional vertical storage.

Maintain the finish by keeping the item away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the wood.
