The Queen Anne style emerged around 1700 to 1760, characterised by a transition from heavy ornamentation to lighter, more graceful lines, featuring cabriole legs, pad feet, and a focus on figured wood veneers like walnut.

Master craftsmen utilised native and imported timbers, notably walnut veneer applied to oak or pine secondary woods, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers and solid brass hardware.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-cut dovetailing, period-correct brass drop handles and escutcheons, timber shrinkage patterns, and the natural patina developed on the wood over centuries.

Pairing historical timber pieces with contemporary minimalist surrounds creates a balanced aesthetic, allowing the rich grain and craftsmanship of the antique to serve as a focal point.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels and temperatures, avoid direct sunlight to prevent veneer fading, and periodically nourish the wood with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
