A beautifully carved piece of oak, this figure of a bishop is nearly a metre high and is around 350 years old. It will look stunning as a decorative piece in the right setting.
- Skilfully carved head and mitre, with lovely flow to the robes.
- Crozier, or crook, loose in one hand, so that it can be removed.
- Holding a casket in the other hand.
- Large iron bracket embedded into the back recess, allowing attachment to a wall.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. There are signs of old woodworm to the back and some worm damage around the hand holding the crook, as will be expected for a piece of this age. That hand has some movement in the wrist. The crook has some signs of glue at several joints.
