Size: 5ft 3in x 2ft 11in (160 x 90cm).

Antique Ersari Turkmen 9 gul chuval face with good colour. The elem design is of a scarce design.

Circa 1880.

Chuval are storage bags used by the nomads to transport goods, the faces are piled so make very good small rugs.

The chuval face is very will drawn with 9 large guls with good spacing, the guls are large and of round form with a fairly simple internal design. The elem design is a scarce variation of the Turkmen tree design. The chuval has excellent colour and soft wool.

The chuval face is in good condition with very slight even wear and good almost full pile. The upper border has been reduced at some time in the chuvals history and there is a small repaired spilt to the top centre. The original plain weave back has been removed.
