Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Spode pioneered the perfection of transfer printing on earthenware and bone china in Stoke-on-Trent during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, producing durable ceramics decorated with intricate blue designs often inspired by Chinese motifs.

These pieces were typically crafted from refined earthenware or creamware bodies, finished with a transparent lead glaze and decorated using cobalt blue oxide transfer prints applied directly onto the biscuit fired clay.

Authenticity is determined by examining the softness and depth of the cobalt transfer print, the presence of crazing and kiln spurs on the base, and specific makers marks or pattern numbers associated with the factory.

Antique ceramics add historic texture and colour when displayed on open shelving, used as small floral vases, or grouped with other blue and white pieces on a sideboard or mantelpiece.

Antique ceramics should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild, non-ionic detergent. Harsh scrubbing, dishwashers, and prolonged soaking should be avoided to protect the glaze and prevent staining through crazing lines.
