FAQs

Austrian cold-painted bronze refers to sculptures produced in Vienna during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, where the bronze casting was coated with a layer of dust paint and fixed without firing at high temperatures.

These pieces typically consist of cast bronze or brass bases finished with hand-applied polychrome oil-based paints to create realistic feather and fur textures.

Authentic pieces often feature fine hand-chased detailing, naturalistic patination, and occasional makers marks or Geschutzt stamps denoting Austrian registration, alongside characteristic wear revealing the bronze beneath.

These small-scale figures provide textural contrast when placed on bookshelves, desks, or mantelpieces, acting as focal points that introduce historical depth to modern spaces.

Dusting should be performed gently with a dry, soft brush. Avoid all liquids, chemical solvents, or polishes, as moisture easily strips the delicate cold-painted finish.
