Pair of all woollen late 19th century panels embroidered in a type of cicim technique.

Sadly a little worn but still serviceable.images of both sides.

Attractive banded designs with blue,pink and ivory coloured embroidery. With a host of uses what ever you think/make of them.

4 foot by 2 foot 3 inches. 122cm X 69cm. The other is 3 foot 10 inches by 2 foot 4 inches. 119cm X 71cm. At widest points. Wool fringes not measured in size.

A Cicim is a traditional Anatolian flatweave textile technique where decorative supplementary warp or weft threads are embroidered into a flat-woven base cloth to create raised geometric patterns.

Authentic Anatolian Cicim textiles are constructed using hand-spun wool yarns for both the base structure and supplementary embroidery, frequently colored with natural plant dyes.

Authentic antique flatweaves display subtle irregularities from hand-spinning, natural abrash colour variations within the yarn bands, and hand-finished fringe work along the loom ends.

These flatweave textiles can be mounted as framed wall art, hung as tapestry accents, or placed side-by-side as runner rugs to introduce historic texture into contemporary spaces.
