An antique Ersari Turkmen, very large main carpet from Southern Turkmenistan or Northern Afghanistan, approximately 15''6'' x 9''7'', dating from the 2nd half 19th century. This attractive old carpet has a claret red coloured feld with three columns of elephant foot guls enclosed by multiple borders. A hand woven carpet finished with kilim and fringed ends, and overbound sides. Wool pile and foundations. The reverse has the original tag, with lead seal attached.
This high quality antique carpet, with 140 plus years of use, giving it a lovely aged /distressed charm and character, which cannot be reproduced. Ready to use.
