Excellent Japanese Meiji (earlt 20thC) small bronze tiger with inlaid jade eyes by Tsunemitsu Tsukahara (Joko). A master of animal bronzes, Tsunemitsu was particularly note for his tiger and elephant bronzes. Signed in a seal on the belly. 29cm x 7.5cm x 13cm high, weight 1.35kg.
 
Superb original condition.
 
Tsukahara Tsunemitsu (Joko) was a renowned Japanese master bronze caster from Takaoka, active during the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras. Known for high-quality, detailed works, his pieces include fine bronzes such as vases with applied iris decoration and naturalistic animal okimono.
