Chest of Drawers Rare Elm Holkham Hall George IV C1820

19th century
Description

Here we have a truly outstanding solid Elm chest of drawers from the Holkham Hall estate c1820. As you can see the chest has fantastic colour and patina. The chest looks a little orange under our downlights but is a very good Elm colour. This estate made chest comes direct from the estate of Earl and Lady Liecester at Holkham hall. There is an Elm caddy two plank top that has been carefully chosen for its grain. The cross banded edge leads to four graduated drawers each with their original fruitwood handles and mother of pearl inlays. The drawers have hand cut dovetail joints, solid Elm linings and faux cock beaded edges. The whole sits on typical tall Norfolk bracket feet and a shaped frieze between. The dimensions are approx 90 cm wide 104 cm high 47 cm deep.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
