Description

1930s Doxa pocket watch.

The watch has a 15 jewel stem winding movement, signed with the Doxa name, which is working nicely.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which is signed Doxa, and has details of medals won in Liege, Milan and Paris.

The watch measures 55.5mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is stamped as being argentan which is a metal alloy, also known as "nickel silver" or "German silver," primarily composed of copper, nickel, and zinc. The case is in good condition, just a little gentle unevenness to the hinged back, nothing serious at all.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in good condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute marker track with red 24 hour numerals.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

Date of Manufacture

The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this Vintage Doxa Pocket Watch to the 1930s.

Doxa was a renowned Swiss watch manufacturer known for producing robust, reliable timepieces, including pocket watches featuring anti-magnetic movements and railway-style dials popular during the interwar period.

These watches typically featured nickel-chromium or steel cases, enamel dials with painted numerals, mineral glass crystals, and intricate mechanical hand-wound movements.

Authenticity is verified by examining the makers signature on the dial and movement, checking the serial numbers against manufacturer records, and inspecting the quality of the mechanical escapement.

A vintage pocket watch can be displayed on a dedicated stand on a desk or mantelpiece, or housed in a glass dome as a focal point in a study or library.

Mechanical watches require regular professional servicing, protection from moisture and strong magnetic fields, and careful manual winding to maintain working condition.
