Timor Army Trade Pattern (Atp) Wrist Watch

1920 - 1940
Description

This Timor Army Trade Pattern (ATP) watch has a 31mm stainless steel case. A Timor 15 Jewel manual wind movement. Mid case composite chrome base metal bezel. Lug Width 16mm, Lug to lug 31.5mm.

A beautiful unrestored dial clearly stating Timor on the dial its aged naturally to become and off white, yellowish colour. Bold number hour markers with clear subsidiary second dial.

This Timor is an original example of the watch, yes it shows some wear and tear and most likely battle hardened but appears to have those original dial, hands and hour markers in place.

The Army Trade Pattern (ATP) watches were standard-issue timepieces for British military personnel during World War II. Introduced in 1939, these watches were designed to meet the British Army's need for reliable and durable timekeeping devices.

Approximately 17 Swiss watchmakers produced ATP watches, including well-known brands like Omega, Timor Longines, and Ebel. These watches were often civilian watches slightly modified to meet the hurried specification issued by the British Army. Timor was one of the few that built a whole new watch just for the British Army.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Army Trade Pattern (ATP) watches were commissioned by the British Ministry of Supply during the Second World War to equip British Armed Forces personnel prior to the introduction of the Dirty Dozen series.

These timepieces feature chrome-plated or nickel-plated brass cases, stainless steel backs, acrylic crystals, and mechanical manual-wind Swiss movements designed for field durability.

Authentic ATP watches feature a sub-seconds dial, clear Arabic numerals, Swiss movement markings, and specific military issue engravings on the case back, including the ATP designation.

Vintage military watches can be worn daily on period-appropriate leather or canvas NATO straps, or displayed within curated horology cases alongside historical accessories.

Mechanical timepieces require periodic servicing by a qualified watchmaker, protection from moisture and magnetic fields, and careful manual winding without forcing the crown.
