FAQs

Nineteenth century French furniture often reflects classical proportions, sophisticated veneers such as flame mahogany, and restrained ornamentation influenced by neoclassical and Empire periods.

Pieces from this era typically feature solid oak or pine secondary woods, hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction, and decorative wood veneers applied to the primary surfaces.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery, old-growth timber characteristics, traditional shellac finishes, and iron or brass hardware that matches the manufacturing techniques of the period.

A traditional wooden chest provides rich texture and warmth, contrasting effectively against neutral contemporary walls and minimalist furnishings while serving as a functional storage solution.

Maintain wood furniture by avoiding direct sunlight, keeping it away from heat sources, applying periodic wax polish, and controlling indoor humidity to prevent veneer cracking.
