Rare 18th Century Maltese Olive Wood Chest Of Drawers
£4,895 $6,121 €5,812
This is probably my favourite chest of drawers I have had the pleasure to own. Dating to the 18th century this really is very smart. The design first and foremost is striking with the serpentine front and hoof feet. It is then made even better when you realise the timber used is olive wood. This timber has such a beautiful figuring and colour that really works well in a huge number of interiors. The next big detail is the originality which looks to be totally complete including the deep red and gilt lining paper in the drawers. A truly exceptional piece of furniture. The overall condition is very good and it shows its age handsomely. The chest of drawers also has an amazing sectional top with the star of Malta right in the centre in contrast darker timber. The lower boarder is also a fabulous design.
I am in love with this piece.
