A well painted watercolour of a sailing ship with small boats and an inhabited Island. The painting is in good condition, signed and dated Frank Wood 1914.
Frank Wood born locally in 1862 in Berwick upon Tweed, a naval officer and ships artist in his early life. He became a professional artist in 1899, moved to Portsmouth in 1906 to focus on painting ships. In 1903 he sold a painting to Kind Edward V11, as well as Queen Alexandria purchased his work. He was one of the most popular marine artists of the early 20th century.
