Large Watercolour by Arturo Orselli

A large watercolour depicting a fete champetre in the Rococo fashion by the Italian artist Arturo Orselli. The large work is full of superbly depicted characters all engaged in the frivolities of a garden party and centred around a lady in a swing. The detail is astonishing with every figure perfectly drawn and characterised. The work is in very good condition with only a slight fading to the colours. The painting is signed A.Orselli to the lower right. Arturo Orselli was a painter active in the 19th century in Italy. He is best known for his delicately painted genre paintings with motifs from the Baroque and Rococo that was so popular at the end of the nineteenth century. This work is most likely framed in the original gilt frame which is in good condition. It has been remounted at some point and a new board added to the back. A large and very decorative work that is ready to hang. C.1900.
