Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Ziegler carpets, often produced in Sultanabad during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, were specifically designed for Western export, adapting traditional Persian designs with softer palettes and larger-scale motifs to suit European and American Victorian interiors.

These carpets are traditionally hand-knotted using hand-spun wool for the pile, often on a cotton foundation, employing asymmetrical Persian knots and natural vegetable dyes that yield muted, harmonious tones over time.

Authentic pieces are identified by their characteristic lower knot densities compared to fine city rugs, characteristic soft colour vegetable dye lots, expansive open fields with stylised floral motifs, and visible hand-spun irregularities in the wool texture.

Ground a contemporary or transitional space by placing the carpet as the anchor of the room, using it to bring warmth, texture, and historical contrast beneath minimalist modern furniture or classic upholstery.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without a beater bar, professional specialised washing every few years, avoiding direct prolonged sunlight to protect natural dyes, and using a breathable underlay to prevent sliding and wear.
