Antique Silk Tekke Turkmen Rug, Very Fine Weave and Great Colour, Circa 1920.

Description

Size: 7ft 3in x 4ft 7in (220 x 140cm).

Antique Tekke Turkmen rug of very fine weave, silk foundation and silk pile.

Circa 1920.

This is an excellent rug with six rows of thirteen Tekke guls to the field. It is most unusual to find Turkmen rug that are woven using silk, this rug is very fine with a soft red ground.

The boarder is of the sunburst design with eight pointed stars. The elem design is particularly attractive.

The rug is very fine and has a soft floppy handle.

The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and full pile.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use.
