FAQs

The Georgian style spans the reigns of the four British monarchs named George from 1714 to 1830, characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and a transition from walnut to mahogany as the primary timber.

Authentic period pieces were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or oak timbers, utilising hand-cut dovetail joints for drawer construction and incorporating solid brass hardware.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut dovetails, secondary timbers such as pine or oak on drawer linings, hand-planed board surfaces, and period-appropriate brass handles with corresponding backplates.

Pairing historical wooden furniture with clean-walled contemporary spaces creates contrast, allowing the natural grain and craftsmanship to function as a focal point.

Maintain timber condition by avoiding direct sunlight, keeping relative humidity stable, dusting with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the wood surface.
