FAQs

An askos is a type of ancient Greek pottery or metal vessel used for pouring liquids, and Grand Tour souvenirs were 19th-century bronze replicas collected by travellers visiting classical archaeological sites in Italy.

These pieces were typically cast in bronze using traditional lost-wax methods, often finished with chemical patination to simulate ancient oxidisation and archaeological burial surfaces.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate patination, heavy cast-bronze construction with hand-chased details, and wear patterns consistent with age rather than modern chemical distressing.

Place the piece on a dark wood mantelpiece, library bookshelf, or executive desk to introduce historical gravitas and textural contrast to modern minimalist or transitional schemes.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid all liquid cleaners, polishes, or abrasives to protect the historical patina and surface integrity.
