Thomas Whittle the Younger (1842-1915) was a well renowned Royal Academy artist, who was trained by his father (Thomas Whittle Senior) during the late Victorian period and flourished between 1868 - 1885. He also painted �Fallen Beauties� (1866) and �The Road to the Valley� (1867).This Victorian oil painting is a study of Windsor Castle viewed from the opposite bank (most likely the North West elevation), with the river Thames meandering in the foreground. The flag is flying high on the castle turret, which indicates that Queen Victoria was in residence at the time. The landscape painting depicts fishermen punting on the river, cattle grazing with their herder nearby and two people chatting to a man on a donkey with their dog.
