FAQs

Milk glass art painting involves applying oil or enamel paints directly onto opaque, milky-white pressed or blown glass panels, a technique popular in decorative arts during the mid-20th century.

These works typically utilise an opaque white glass substrate, oil or enamel pigments, and are frequently housed in moulded plaster or wood frames with gilt finishes.

Authenticity is determined by examining the ageing of the paint pigments, the composition of the glass substrate under magnification, and the construction methods of the frame backing.

A traditional framed artwork adds warmth and classical contrast when hung on neutral walls or layered on a mantelpiece alongside modern minimalist decor.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent the paint from lifting off the non-porous glass surface and to protect the gilt frame.
