Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Painted pine furniture was traditionally utilised in country houses, sculleries, and farmhouses where utilitarian function dictated design. Softwood surfaces were frequently painted to protect the timber, brighten dark workspaces, or simply refresh domestic interiors using available local pigments.

These pieces typically feature solid yellow or Scots pine construction, joined using traditional hand-cut dovetails for drawers, pegged mortise and tenon joints for the frame, and turned wooden knobs. Surfaces often display centuries of layered oil or milk paint.

Authenticity is determined by examining tool marks, hand-planed timber variations, period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, and genuine age-related wear including surface oxidisation, shrinkage cracks, and layers of historic paint finishes.

An antique painted prep table serves as a functional centrepiece or auxiliary workspace in contemporary kitchens, or as a contrasting console in open-plan living spaces. Pair it with modern seating or minimalist accessories to balance historical character with clean lines.

Preserve painted pine by keeping it away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity levels to prevent timber movement. Clean surfaces gently with a dry or barely damp microfiber cloth, avoiding harsh chemical solvents that can damage historic paint layers.
