An early antique Ushak carpet, with ancient natural dyes, which have faded to create this stunning palette. A muted dusky pink border surrounds an off-white / grey toned natural wool background as well as light blues, greens and orange tones used for the vines and floral design. Woven with a very open drawing with nice symmetry to the design, hand-woven around 1880 by skilled Turkish weavers in Ushak, Western Anatolia. A finer weave than we see on most Ushak, as usually they are coarser in weave, some may call this a Sivas which often produced finer examples from Ushak region.
